We are now recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join our Rugby Operations Workshop. Reporting to the Quality Manager – Rugby Workshop, you will play a key role in daily measuring and inspection tasks, ensuring our quality and inspection processes are maintained to the highest standards. Success in this role comes from building effective working relationships, supporting colleagues across the business, and ensuring our Quality Management System (QMS) is functioning effectively and fully complied with.
Key Responsibilities…
As a Quality Inspector, you will play a critical role within our Rugby Workshop.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Work as part of the Workshop team, driving quality across projects and supporting continuous improvement of procedures and processes.
- Carry out inspections of components against drawings (including reverse engineering), incoming goods checks, and in-process/final product approvals.
- Use a wide range of mechanical measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, dial gauge indicators, slip gauges etc.) to deliver accurate and meaningful results.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and monitor workshop activity against set standards.
- Identify, capture, and investigate quality issues, performing root cause analysis and supporting corrective/preventative actions.
- Contribute to internal and external audits, supplier site visits, and monitoring of machining, fabrication, plating, stamping, and laser cutting processes.
- Oversee calibration control of workshop and inspection gauges.
- Promote a culture of quality across the business, driving improvements, supporting training needs, and embedding best practice.
- Provide accurate reporting using ICT packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
Your skills and experiences:
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:
- Electrical / mechanical engineering background.
- Previous experience using mechanical measuring equipment.
- Proven experience carrying out inspections and producing reports.
- Strong understanding of drawings & GD&T.
- Problem-solving techniques for non-conformances and quality issues.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with quality auditing techniques, engineering design, and product reliability concepts.
- Hands-on, pragmatic personality with a “can do” attitude.
- Experience with rotating machines (advantageous).
- Leadership attributes with the ability to work as part of a team and achieve goals in Safety, Quality, Cost, and On-Time Delivery.
- Willingness to complete appropriate training and engage in academic study.
- Flexibility to work extended hours in the workshop when required.
