Anglian Water contracts Quartzelec to deliver ‘Planned & Reactive Mechanical & Electrical Services’

10 December 2013

Quartzelec, a leading international electrical engineering group, has just been awarded a prestigious framework agreement by Anglian Water covering the planned and reactive delivery of a range of mechanical and electrical services. The total framework covers the four geographical divisions of Anglian Water - Lincolnshire, Essex, Ruthamford, Norfolk & Suffolk; and is valued at £25m, spread over the next four and a half years and split with four other contractors..

In addition to delivering electrical and mechanical installations, related electrical fault finding and panel building plus carrying out regular pump and valve equipment inspections and repairs; Quartzelec will be responsible for motor rewinds and repairs plus a variety of related fabrication, welding, machining and other civil works.

“This is a significant and important contract for Quartzelec and is further recognition for our ability to deliver the level of services expected and required by utility companies,” stated Matt Brown, who has operational responsibility for Quartzelec Sheffield, Grimsby and the new Portsmouth operation. “In addition to opening our new HQ in Rugby in 2012 we have recently expanded our operations by acquiring new premises in Sheffield, Grimsby and Portsmouth to enable us to better meet the increasing needs of our customers.

“Winning this prestigious framework agreement means we can continue our expansion plans and grow the team of dedicated engineers we employ. The actual level and scheduling of the work has still to be finalised but will be quite substantial from the outset and is only likely to increase further as we start delivering and making a positive contribution to increasing Anglian Water’s operational ability to meet its customer requirements.”

Anglian Water recently organised a framework launch event for all the contractors on the new framework to ensure project requirements are fully understood and to start allocating the various activities.

Jack Wyatt, the Supply Chain Professional at Anglian Water Services Ltd added: “Contracts covered a matrix of 15 activity types to be delivered at each of the four geographic areas and were awarded on a combination of both price and quality.  We received a number of tenders which were first class, comprehensive and well presented. There was generally close competition across the activity types with Quartzelec being awarded a framework agreement for a range of mechanical and electrical services and we look forward to developing a successful and long term relationship with them.”
