Quartzelec, the international electrical engineering group headquartered in Rugby, has just confirmed a mutual marketing agreement with Reading based SPP Pumps, a leading manufacturer and provider of centrifugal pumps and associated systems, that will see these two market leaders coupled on opportunities to help reduce customer issues, improve response times and increase overall business efficiency.
For more than 130 years SPP Pumps has been a global principal in design, supply and servicing of pumps, pump packages and equipment for a wide range of applications within industry sectors that include oil & gas production, water and waste water treatment, power generation, construction, mines and for large industrial plants. Similarly Quartzelec has extensive relationships within these sectors and has a heritage that stretches back over 80 years that includes experience and technical expertise in the repair and maintenance of LV and HV, AC and DC motors and generators as well as electrical contracting.
Architects for the deal are Phil Deakin, SPP Engineering Services’ Southern Sales Manager and Keith Evans, Quartzelec’s Swansea GM.
Keith Evans said: “Whilst we operate in different technology sectors our customer bases are very similar which will allow us to assist each other with our internal expertise in these fields. SPP Pumps is involved in the repair, maintenance and support of products used across a diverse set of industries but all their pumps are invariably coupled to an electric motor and sometimes have to call upon Quartzelec to deal with motor issues. Likewise our engineers out in the field regularly encounter pump related problems that they are not equipped to deal with when called out to deal with motors. So establishing a symbiotic relationship makes real sense.
John Morgan, responsible for Key Accounts at SPP Pumps added: “We see ourselves as international engineering solutions providers, working in partnership with our customers. We strive to promote our reputation as a viable OEM alternative for the repair, maintenance and support of HV machines. But there are times when additional rotating electrical machines knowledge and support is needed and that’s where we are confident that Quartzelec, as a leading internationally recognised independent technical authority with an enviable reputation, can assist us with their professional approach and support.”
Both operations already have many common accreditations, similar working practices and regularly work alongside each other for the same customers. By formalising this relationship customers will now, with a single call, be able to access a better, more competitive service and so reap the rewards of this coupling. Additional benefits will also come from a potential purchasing gain plus mutual marketing, attendance at trade event and other related activities.
