Electrical contracting business help deliver ...

Rapidly enhancing its reputation for professional, cost effective and well designed and delivered projects in the high and low voltage electrical contracting sector, Quartzelec, a leading independent electrical engineering and contracting group, has just completed a £230,000 contract for all the electrical installation work at Hatherlow House, a new Methodist Homes (MHA) development in Southport.

Working for Seddon Construction, the main contractor, Quartzelec installed all the lighting, power, sub mains, distribution, fire alarm and security systems for this new development along with all the electrics for the communal areas.

MHA is a charity providing care, accommodation and support services for older people throughout Britain and Hatherlow House is an innovative care development that offers a new lifestyle for couples. It enables them to continue to live together in a home of their own when one partner has dementia and requires more specialist care.  In addition to the 33, one and two bedroom apartments the development also includes onsite facilities that include a residential lounge, cafe, hair salon, therapy suite and library.

Designed and built to an exceptionally high standard throughout, this top rated energy efficient building has a BREEAM good rating and includes the latest technological developments in LED lighting, extensive controls, air source heat pumps and full energy management systems that can be controlled and monitored off site.  Security was also high on the agenda and the state of the art specialist security system has future proof design, incorporating ‘assistive technology’ warden call to manage the health and welfare of the residents, CCTV. A door entry system also enables residents to see and hear visitors before allowing them into the building for added reassurance.

“This was a demanding project but it also enabled us to demonstrate how good project planning and management can ensure a project is delivered on time and on budget,” stated Martin Broughton, Quartzelec's General Manager for the Manchester based contracting business. “Over recent months we have secured a number of prestigious high and low voltage contracting projects and as the construction sector continues to come back to life, we expect to secure more work of this nature. By setting high standards we aim to set ourselves apart from our competition and this approach, as a business, has also helped us secure a number of prestigious contracts in the construction sector.”
