Quartzelec’s Manchester based building services engineering business has had an outstanding year for both winning significant electrical installation and contracting projects and then delivering every aspect of these on time and budget – and on Saturday 4th July 2015 it received further recognition for this, being named ‘Large Contractor of the Year’ at the Gala Dinner for the Electrical Contractors’ Association, which took place at the prestigious QEII Conference Centre in London.
“We were up against some stiff opposition but the Quartzelec team pulled together a compelling and what proved to be an Award winning entry,” explained Martin Broughton, General Manager for Quartzelec’s Manchester operation. “We continue to deliver impressive installations and many of these formed the nucleus of our submission. This Award, sponsored by Schneider Electric, recognises professionalism, consistency of service and responsibility to both clients and staff amongst electrical building services contractors with a turnover in excess of £20 million, and we were kept on tenterhooks right to the end of the Awards ceremony as the ‘Large Contractor of the Year’ was the final announcement of the evening. What was even more gratifying was that this was the first time we’d entered the Awards – so to be named the outright category winner was fantastic and testimony to the professionalism of the whole team.”
“But it wasn’t just about the contracts,” continued Martin Broughton. “A significant part of the Award application process focussed on our people, how we operate the business and our professional accreditations. People are always high on our corporate agenda as they are instrumental in our success story and fundamental to delivering true customer satisfaction. We have an active programme of Continual Professional Development from entry level apprenticeships through to senior management training and our roll of honour already includes over a dozen employees that have achieved over 50-years active service with the organisation in one guise or another – illustrating their commitment, dedication and willingness to go that extra mile for customers.”
Other ECA awards presented during the Awards Ceremony to other organisations included; Innovation in Contracting; the Best Health and Safety Initiative Award; Excellence in Training and Development; and Contractor of the Year Awards for turnovers between £1-£5 million and £5-£20 million. The Awards ceremony was overseen by the CEO for the ECA, Steve Bratt with guest speaker, comedian Ed Byrne. The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) was founded in 1901 and is the UK’s leading association representing the business interests of electrical contractors.
