Quartzelec, the international electrical engineering group, sees itself as an international trouble-shooter as it strives to promote its reputation as a leading independent technical authority in rotating electrical machines and a viable OEM alternative for the repair, maintenance and support of HV machines.
Quartzelec has already kicked 2016 off by attending the IMecE’s annual Steam Turbine and Generator User Group (STUG) in Manchester in March which was a lively forum for the discussion of common problems and new solutions, again proving a vital platform for the European market and customers. Then at the MAF Conference in Dubai in early April which targeted the Middle East market, Wojciech Betlej, one of its Rugby based Design Engineers, presented what was a well received paper. Attracting a large audience his presentation focussed on generator rotor repairs and detailed both the safety and the significant financial benefits that can be achieved by simple preventative maintenance including how ‘state-of-the-art’ sensor technology can formalise the process and help identify early warning signs.
The delivery team is also attending Power & Electricity World Philippines on 18-19 May (stand 42) where the focus will be on providing long-term solutions to meet the energy needs within this burgeoning market. Plans are also now being put into place to attend three upcoming Power-Gen exhibitions, organised by Pennwell: with the main European event taking place in Milan 21-23 June (stand 3HF88); followed by the African show in Johannesburg 19-21 July (stand F18); and the Asia event being held this year in Seoul between 20-22 September (stand K36).
“Events represent a significant investment for us, both in terms of executive time and logistics,” stated Jody Townsend, Quartzelec’s Marketing Communications Manager. “But we also reap considerable return from them in building our brand and establishing new contacts plus re-connecting with existing customers. Many of the international markets in which we operate truly benefit from our heritage and expertise as we are able to cost effectively maintain and repair a broad cross-section of their motors and generators that are vital to their continued business activities. ”
Quartzelec has an annual turnover in excess of £60m and a heritage that stretches back more than 80 years with the ability to design, manufacture, repair, refurbish and rewind large, project critical motors and generators, relying on its extensive library of design drawings and a full design department. It also has a rapidly expanding electrical contracting business and has the ability to work on any OEM-manufactured machine and/or equipment, including those built by its previous heritage companies such as GEC Machines, GEC Alsthom Large Machines, ALSTOM and Cegelec.
