Quartzelec's success at the Electrical Awards 2014

25 November 2014

With the exceptional success of its electrical contracting operations, managed out of Manchester; this year Quartzelec opted to enter the prestigious 2014 Electrical Industry awards for the first time – and was delighted to be shortlisted in the ‘Contractor of the Year’ category at the October gala event – ultimately receiving a ‘Highly Commended’, so securing a strong and close second place.

“We’ve established an enviable reputation for delivering professional, cost effective and well designed and implemented, LV/HV installation and maintenance projects in the UK’s fiercely competitive electrical contracting sector,” stated Martin Broughton, the GM for Quartzelec in Manchester. “We put together a strong submission but being our first attempt, didn’t have great expectations of success – so were truly delighted to receive the ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Contractor of the Year’ category. To have the efforts and dedication of the Quartzelec team recognised in this way is fantastic and should spur us on to build on this success in the future and secure more achievements. Our focus on building strong client relationships, quality of service, attention to detail and value for money; rather than simply competing on price is truly paying dividends in being awarded prestigious contracts and achieving recognition.”

The prestigious annual Electrical Industry Awards are the trade's longest running and most respected awards championing excellence and highlighting achievement.  This year, a total of 14 competitively fought categories were judged including: Innovative Commercial Product of the Year; Electrical Apprentice of the Year; and Contractor of the Year (Electrical or M&E).

Quartzelec’s Manchester based contracting business has grown by an average of 40% over the past few years picking up a string of contracts like the recently awarded One Smithfield Square - final phase re-generation project.  This 10-month £1.5+ million pounds full M&E Installation and refit contract at its peak had 12 electrical operatives and 15 mechanical operatives on site dealing with the lighting, power, sub main distribution, fire alarm, security, access control systems, along with a generator backup solution to life safety equipment and smoke extract system for a total of 77, one / two and three bedroom apartments and two commercial units.
