Coil Operator - Quartzcoil


We are currently seeking motivated and skilled Coil Operators to join our Quartzcoil Rugby team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the production process while working in a dynamic environment that values continuous improvement and high operational standards.

The position is available on either an afternoon shift (4 days per week) or day shifts (Monday to Friday), providing flexibility to suit different work-life balance preferences. As part of the Quartzcoil production team, you'll be expected to maintain the highest standards of workmanship and quality in every task.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

  • Operate and monitor machinery to manufacture coils, ensuring adherence to customer specifications
  • Set up machines for production cycles and create first-off samples for quality inspection
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning and basic repairs
  • Test and inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards
  • Operate material handling equipment to efficiently move materials and finished products
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet production goals and timelines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace at all times
  • Perform quick changeovers between production runs, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Follow company procedures and standards to consistently produce high-quality products
  • Meet production targets while maintaining focus on efficiency and quality
  • Proactively work to minimise waste and optimise resource use

Qualifications & Experience

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Proven experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Previous experience in the electrical engineering industry, particularly in hand insulation or coil manufacturing is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided
  • Strong numeracy and measurement skills, with experience using micrometers, Vernier callipers, and go/no-go gauges
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and committed to achieving success in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
