In response to our ongoing growth, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Electrical/ Mechanical Engineer with expertise in rotating machines to support our various sites within the UK, as well as international and offshore locations.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability
- Motor and Generator Inspections & Tests: Inspect and test medium to large motors and generators, ensuring their functionality
- Maintenance Tasks: Perform tasks like rotor removal, bearing inspection, and alignment, using mechanical and schematic drawings
- Damage Identification & Documentation: Identify and document any damage and work done to machinery during inspections
- Safety Adherence: Follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safety standards are met
- Project Management: Track project progress, mitigate potential delays, and manage timelines
- Collaboration: Work with the Project Manager and Engineer to prepare necessary documentation before site mobilisation and ensure timely project completion
- Client Communication: Maintain daily communication with client representatives on-site
- Reporting: Compile final project reports within deadlines and promote Quartzelec’s quality standards
- Safety Oversight: Ensure the safety of all involved in the project, both on-site and during any travel
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Experience as a fitter or winder
- A technical qualification with time served in the relevant field of Rotating machinery
- A minimum of three years’ site project experience working with rotating electrical machines
- Knowledge of medium and large electrical rotating machines (High Voltage), as well as AC & DC motors and generators
- Experience in electrical testing, including high and low voltage testing of electrical rotating machines is desirable
- Professional and courteous demeanour at all times
- Effective communication skills with the Project Manager throughout project work
- Ability to communicate clearly and assertively
- Strong organisational and execution skills in work planning
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally at short notice
