Electro‑Mechanical Fitter – Team Leader


We are seeking an experienced Electro‑Mechanical Fitter – Team Leader, ideally with strong rotating machines experience, to join our Workshop team at our Rugby site. This role combines hands‑on electro‑mechanical fitting with team leadership responsibilities, supporting the delivery of high‑quality repairs within agreed timescales.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The Electro‑Mechanical Fitter – Team Leader will be responsible for safely delivering high‑quality electro‑mechanical repair work while leading and supporting a small workshop team. Responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting, disassembling and reassembling rotating machines, including AC and DC motors and generators
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical and schematic drawings
  • Assessing machine condition, wear and damage and carrying out basic electrical testing
  • Preparing components and assembling machines to QA standards, ready for test running
  • Completing work to a high standard, achieving first‑time fix where possible
  • Producing accurate job reports, inspection check sheets and daily/weekly paperwork
  • Working methodically, taking clear notes during disassembly and repair
  • Providing excellent customer care and liaising with customers during visits where required

Leadership and coordination responsibilities include:

  • Leading by example with a strong focus on Health & Safety, Quality and housekeeping
  • Completing monthly H&S walkarounds and attending H&S meetings
  • Ensuring parts are correctly labelled, stored and handled safely
  • Ensuring work instructions are followed and completed accurately
  • Liaising with Quality and Inspection teams to ensure records meet required standards
  • Maintaining high levels of workmanship across the team
  • Supporting project delivery by managing priorities, deadlines and labour requirements
  • Assisting with project labour costing and efficiency
  • Identifying training and development needs within the team
  • Participating in tender and project reviews to support planning and cost control

 

Your skills and experiences:

  • A Mechanical Engineering qualification (C&G, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Experience in an electro‑mechanical environment
  • Knowledge of medium and large rotating machines, including high‑voltage equipment
  • Experience with AC and DC motors and generators
  • The ability to travel for short durations in the UK and overseas
  • The ability to use industry tools and equipment safely and correctly
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and quality
  • The ability to work independently and lead others effectively
  • A full UK driving licence (advantageous)
