We are now seeking to recruit an experienced Electromechanical Fitter with rotating machines experience to work for our new company in Spain.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability
- Carry out inspections and disassembly/reassembly of medium and large rotating machines (motors and generators, turbogenerators, hydrogenerators)
- Alignment, on-site rotor removal, mechanical and visual inspections of all motor/generator components
- Removal of retaining rings
- Pressure testing of coolers
- Basic electrical testing, IR/PI and winding resistance, to assess machine condition
- In addition, an understanding of vibration analysis, trim balancing, RSO and impedance testing would be advantageous
- Understanding and interpreting mechanical and schematic drawings
- Accurately identifying damage and wear on AC/DC electric motors and generators, as well as other machinery
- Collaborating with the Project Manager to create a realistic Project Plan that includes resource requirements and estimated durations
- Monitoring progress against the Project Plan and developing strategies to address any actual or potential delays
- Coordinating working hours and shift schedules with the client to ensure projects are completed within the planned timelines
- Ensuring that Risk Assessments and Method Statements are accurate and are communicated to all relevant individuals
- Working with the Project Manager and responsible Engineer to ensure all necessary check sheets and quality record forms are collected and distributed prior to site mobilisation
- Producing job reports and inspection check sheets
- Ensuring the overall safety of the Quartzelec team and activities carried out
- Engaging in daily communication with client representatives on site
- Supervising activities of other team members and subcontractors
- Working independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Requirements for this position include holding a qualification in Mechanical Engineering, such as an NVQ or equivalent
- Previous experience in fitting and winding for large electrical machinery is essential, with minimum 3 years on site experience
- Knowledge of medium and large electrical rotating machines (High Voltage), AC & DC motors, and generators is required
- Knowledge of Hydro Generators would be advantageous
- Basic knowledge of the English language (written and spoken) to allow communication at site and with HQ engineering, is requested
- Willingness to travel and work on-site in Spain and overseas as needed, is necessary
- Good Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and proper and safe use of industry equipment during repairs is essential
- A strong commitment to personal and site safety, both in-house and on customer sites, is essential
- Permission to work in the European Union
- Possession of a full driving licence
