Marine Electrician


As a Marine Electrician, you will join our expanding Marine Electrical team in Aberdeen, where you’ll carry out electrical installations, maintenance, testing and fault‑finding across marine, oil & gas and onshore environments. Working from technical drawings and schematics, you’ll support the safe and efficient operation of power and control systems while contributing to a variety of challenging projects alongside clients and project teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As a Marine Electrician, you will play a critical role within our Aberdeen Marine team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interpret and work directly from drawings, electrical schematics and scopes of work.
  • Carry out electrical maintenance, installations and testing across marine, commercial and industrial environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on AC/DC LV systems in a variety of installations.
  • Work with power generation/management equipment including AC and DC circuits, generators, battery systems and associated control equipment.
  • Test and maintain LV switchboards, control panels, motors, generators and circuit breakers.
  • Install and commission new or refurbished electrical equipment.
  • Liaise with clients to discuss ongoing work scopes and upcoming project requirements.
  • Raise and report issues relating to Safety, Quality, resources and general operational needs.
  • Collaborate with management to resolve problems and implement improvements.
  • Attend meetings with managers and customers to provide updates on progress, risks and delays.
  • Deliver works in line with customer targets and deadlines, including undertaking overtime when required.

 

Your skills and experiences:

  • Time‑served Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (advantageous).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the electrical or marine industry.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work away from home for periods depending on project needs.
  • Computer and software literate.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence.
