Purchasing Manager


To provide direction and leadership for the national and international Supply Chain function, managing all import & export compliance for Quartzelec group along with operational responsibility for supply, with the aim of making cost savings and achieving best value for Quartzelec.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

  • Develop procurement systems & data, supply chain performance improvement & measurement, structured management reporting. Supplier base reduction and group buying deals
  • Drive supplier contract compliance to strategy & policy, identify cost-saving opportunities & drive projects for delivery
  • Ensuring the smooth and cost-efficient flow of materials and tooling through the Supply Chain to Quartzelec’s national and global projects.
  • Agree on stock replenishment targets and ensure they are achieved. Approve stock purchases and ensure they are delivered according to Quartzelec requirements
  • Ensure Customs compliance and become the point of contact for international customs documentation and International trade requirements. Ensure Quartzelec fully complies with HMRC regulations for all imports and exports
  • Providing expertise on incoterms and advantageous international trade terms to the sales force and project managers. Along with pricing estimations for quotations for tenders
  • Provide purchasing support to Project Managers to achieve the best value for Quartzelec
  • Lead procurement on special projects and capital equipment
  • Support the Project Management team in interpreting and reviewing T&C for suppliers' and customers' contracts
  • Understand and agree on contract terms and conditions, maintaining business risks to the appropriate level at the tender stage. Interpret and implement appropriate controls, utilising support from the management team as required

     

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Relevant qualification in purchasing or supply chain management
  • Relevant degree or certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience in purchasing roles, demonstrating expertise in sourcing and procurement processes
  • In-depth knowledge of FIDIC, NEC3, NEC4, or similar contract frameworks
  • Experience in the power generation industry, with a focus on rotating equipment and related technologies
  • Expertise in supplier relationship management, including supplier development, performance improvement programmes, and ensuring ongoing compliance with industry standards
  • Demonstrated success in procuring capital equipment and materials, managing high-value contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
