Quality Inspector


We are now looking to recruit a Quality / Inspection Supervisor based in Rugby operations workshop to carry out daily measuring and inspection tasks. Ensure that the company’s quality and inspection processes are followed.

Success will be achieved by building and effective working relationships. Communicating with managers and staff throughout the company to ensure that the QMS is functioning properly and complied with, advising on changes and providing training to enable others to achieve our quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Within this position the responsibilities will be as follows:-

  • Operating as part of the Workshop team, the role relates to matters concerning the quality aspects of projects, improvement of procedures and processes
  • Competent in the use of mechanical measuring equipment, such as micrometer, vernier, dial gauge indictors, slip gauges etc. to achieve correct meaningful measurements
  • Ensuring as received inspections and good receipt checks are carried out
  • Maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, recording achieved results
  • Ensuring current company procedures are adhered to, throughout Rugby operations in all aspects of work being carried out
  • Verification that all processes and procedure are being adhered to and monitor workshop for compliance against set standards
  • Capture quality issues and carry out detailed investigations and reporting of root cause analysis, providing support to operations on corrective and preventative actions
  • Support internal/external quality audit process
  • Carry out site visits of suppliers, to monitor and audit processes on machining, Fabrication, Plating, Stamping and Laser cutting of purchased components
  • Review defect costs for the Rugby Unit, highlight any issues and trends for any in-house failures or supplier failures
  • Oversee and review control of calibration of workshop / inspection measuring gauges
  • Raise the profile and promote a quality culture across the business identifying and helping to implement improvements where necessary
  • Identify training were necessary for all employees within the business unit in aspects of quality 
  • Competent use of ICT packages (Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint)

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Electrical / Mechanical engineering background 
  • Previous experience in the use of mechanical measuring equipment
  • Previous experience in carrying out inspections and producing reports
  • Problem solving techniques for non-conformances and quality issues
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standard
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Understanding and experience of quality auditing techniques, engineering design and product reliability concepts
  • Hands on pragmatic personality with a “can do” attitude 
  • Previous experience working with rotating machines
  • Demonstrates leadership attributes
  • Understand the importance of teamwork and achieving challenging work based goals in Safety, Quality, Cost and On Time Delivery
  • Be willing to engage in academic study by completing all training deemed appropriate
  • Flexible and able to work extended hours in the workshop as and when necessary
