Background
Quartzelec successfully completed the onsite inspection and major overhaul of steam turbine and generator 11 at Umm Al Nar Power Station and Desalination Plant in Abu Dhabi. The machine – a 386MVA Toshiba TAKS machine, was originally installed in 2004.
The Project
Operator ITM O & M Company Ltd awarded the £275,000 contract to Quartzelec as the result of a competitive tender process.
The hydrogen cooled machine was inspected by a team of Quartzelec Abu Dhabi engineers with the additional support of site engineers from Quartzelec’s Rugby facility to assist with the additional responsibility of overseeing the turbine works.
